Tim Kohchi is an accomplished metalworker with decades of experience, with a background in fine jewelry, including platinum, high karat gold and ancient metalworking techniques. He is self taught in multiple disciplines, including welding and machining.
Tim Kohchi Metalsmithing has been working out of its current location near the Brooklyn Navy Yard since 2013. Formerly located in Manhattan's Tribeca neighborhood, the shop has been operating in its current form since 2002. Our current capabilities include TIG/GTAW welding of aluminum, silicon-bronze, stainless steel, and carbon steel, as well as MIG/GMAW and stick/SMAW welding in a variety of materials. Machining capabilities at the shop include milling, laithe work, and surface grinding.
Tim Kohchi Metalsmithing currently focuses high-end custom architectural metalwork, furniture, and sculpture fabrication. Ethically sourced materials and the highest quality craftsmanship are the standards we adhere to. While Brooklyn-based, we currently have travel capabilities for on-site work, including in remote locations and occupied spaces. Sites we have worked in include top restaurants, exclusive private residences, museums, and entertainment and event venues.
